One of our goals is to provide FREE academic help to hundreds of disadvantage children to ensure their academic success. The need for academic tutors and mentors is evident in the alarming rate of students who are not reading at an appropriate grade level or who are repeating grades due to low academic performance. MASA has been successful in providing services to more than a hundred children that are unable to afford a private tutor or lack the appropriate resources within their neighborhoods or homes to receive academic assistance. Further, MASA provides FREE English as a Second Language courses (ESL) to the parents of the students we mentor and tutor.
The success of our efforts is highly dependent on the good faith and desire of others willing to donate their time, to volunteer in one of New York City’s neediest neighborhoods to tutor and mentor a child who does not have the opportunity at home to seek someone with knowledge and expertise in the areas of math, science, social studies, English, reading, writing. As our program grows, so does our need. Our students are also in need of SAT preparation.
Together we can provide children of immigrant, impoverished backgrounds with the opportunity to excel in school via homework help, tutoring, academic enrichment, cultural trips to explore New York City and the many historical sites it has to share with us. If you would like to become a mentor join us today!
